YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YOU LOVE ME

Left alone with just a memory

Life seems dead and so unreal

All that's left is loneliness

There's nothing left to feel

You don't have to say you love me

Just be close at hand

You don't have to stay forever

I will understand

Believe me, Believe me

  1. Just being close at hand is all that matters

  2. Dusty Springfield was a favorite of mine when I was a teenager, and I still listen to her music on my iPod on I-95 as I drive into the District. No one sounds like Dusty. I also am partial to Stay Awhile. Nell

  3. So great to hear from you both during this moody, moody week around here. I've always loved this song and recording -- everything about it. We actually know the co-lyricist Vicki Wickham(for the English language words; as you probably know, the song was originally an Italian pop hit that Dusty heard and loved with a completely unrelated set of Italian lyrics) and the story about how she and Simon Napier-Bell came to write the lyrics is fascinating and amazing. Anyway, the song came on the radio the other morning and both sparked and tamped down my feelings of despondency in the way only songs like this can do. Curtis
